Spare Parts?

Hello,

Based on lots of reading from this forum I bought a 2087 about 5 years ago that I've been very happy with. My wife likes it too and was planning to buy one soon.

I'm nervous about Lanber going under, and the availability of spare parts down the road if anything were to happen to them.

I was thinking about picking up spare firing pins and firing pin springs for each gun (provided they aren't terribly expensive). Is there anything else that would be smart to buy to keep on hand?

How confident would you be buying these guns knowing there's a good chance the company is done for and spare parts might dry up? Can a gunsmith usually make or swap parts out if something breaks and no parts are available without it costing as much as a new gun would?

I'd greatly appreciate some advice.

Looks like I'm the only one answering questions around here, and I'm pretty sure that's not a good thing. Are you sure you can buy spare parts now? I have not checked, but you may be out of luck already.
And yes, a good gunsmith can make parts like firing pins and such.
I just checked the CDNN web page and it looks like the price of a new 2087 is $700. When I bought my problem child 2097 they were selling for $500. I'm not sure I would pay seven for a gun from a long gone maker, but that's for you to decide, not someone else. They do have a fixed choke gun for under five that looks like a real deal.
For the price CDNN wants for a Lanber I would look real hard at a CZ Canvasback, or a Tristar. Both of those companys have a very good rep for customer service.
As for the one you already own, I would not worry about it. If it was going to give you trouble, it would have happened by now.
