Yup, I'm on the countdown now, for grouse season

Squirrels opened here in Arizona on Friday the 13th. It was drizzling rain all day but my buddy and I scratched out limits. Saturday produced torrential rains and hail all day with no let up so that was all we got for the weekend.

I sure enjoy eating our tree rats here!

I saw exactly one Squill over the 5 hours we were there. He was at 50 yards, so I raised my Marlin 39 and proceded to blow a hole in the branch the Squill was sitting on. I should have found a rest, but I wanted this one dead, and I wanted it dead now, so, I popped off about 6 shots and only proceded to shoot the tree :roll:

You fellas ought to come over here and shoot the buggers. We are infested !! the grey squirrel has pretty much taken over the country, there are millions of them and they are wrecking our woodland. In fact they kill pretty much everything they come into contact with, birds, bats and trees etc.

The open season is all year round, no bag limits and in fact we are encouraged to shoot as many as we can. They are a serious pest and are often poisoned and trapped as well.

I've shot several hundred in the last couple of years.
