Gold paint more like, quite common thing to do years ago, see many Brownings and Remingtons with this done and guys try to pass them off as ‘gold engraved’ 🤦🏻‍♂️

 

The product is probably Markal Paint Stik. It's easy to use and durable, I think it takes paint remover and a brass brush to get it out.

A real gold inlay... in a roll engraving? The gun could well be NIB and maybe someone requested it from the factory. Who knows. I think it only adds $10.00 value to anyone that likes it, and removes a couple hundred for anyone that has to scrub that crap out without hurting the bluing.

If it's NIB, they have the box. You'd think any special treatment would be marked on the end of the box.

 

I am unaware of any Ithaca's with standard roll stamped game scene with gold filling as a factory treatment.
