Would the Model 37 in a standard grade ever come from the factory with the gold filled engraving ? Not gold inlaid, moreover the 70’s era gold filled engraving job.

I recently saw an auction for a 37 that the seller claims is NIB. However it clearly had this
Gold filled treatment. I suppose someone could have done this to a new gun and never fired it, but that’s not the norm from
My experience.

The product is probably Markal Paint Stik. It's easy to use and durable, I think it takes paint remover and a brass brush to get it out.

A real gold inlay... in a roll engraving? The gun could well be NIB and maybe someone requested it from the factory. Who knows. I think it only adds $10.00 value to anyone that likes it, and removes a couple hundred for anyone that has to scrub that crap out without hurting the bluing.

If it's NIB, they have the box. You'd think any special treatment would be marked on the end of the box.

I didn’t think I had ever seen a factory standard 37 with this treatment. I do recall
Many guns of the era having a diy gold fill.
feel like maybe it was a Brownell product.
I vaguely remember some Remingtons having a factory gold coloring of a roll stamped engraving.
