A man in Wilmette had his home broken into and his car stolen. Then the same guy came back (in the stolen car with a ski mask on) while the homeowner and his family were home, apparently to get some more. This time the home owner was ready and reportedly fired several shots at the intruder.

The TV story went into more detail than the website does. The disturbing part was that the reporter said that officers are considering whether to file any charges against the homeowner. It did not mention whether the intruder had a gun or not.

Might be an interesting story to follow...

Yeah isn't it great? from the article you linked to; "NBC5's Mary Ann Ahern said it was not clear if the homeowner would be charged for using a handgun; Wilmette bans the possession of handguns."

Cook county = the People's Occupied Republic of Chicago

You have heard about Mayor Daley's C.A.G.E. Unit haven't you?

Everything I've seen up that way is scary.

I've been thinking seriously about Montana or South Dakota.

What I'd really like to see is for the state to split at about I-80 but Chicago residents would vote against that since they need downstate tax money to operate. and don't you know Chi-town is THE MOST important place in IL. I mean gosh what would us "other" residents do without their corruption and Hookers?

Now, about that shotgun.........

One word:STUPID!!!!! People need to learn and repect guns not get rid of them. What happened to our 2nd amendment???????

I can tell you what happened to Our Second Amendment, people are too complacent, 911 woke up a bunch up but truthfully, until something really catastrophic happens like a full blown invasion where gun owning private citizens are instrumental in saving the day, the slippery slope will continue.

Fear and lack of understanding have a lot to do with it also. Too many people blame the inanimate object for acts commited by the person. Look at the "assault" weapons ban, it really wasn't about for or function, hell most of the banned guns have the same operating method as the Remington 1100, the ban was because those guns "looked" scary. All one has to do to realize that is look at the quotes by the backers of it. Couple that with the facts about how often these guns were used in crimes, and there's only one conclusion.

Chicago's mayor Daley , just about had himself a whole passel of power, he was Al Gore's campaign manager.
Actually it was Mayor Dayley's brother - Bill Daley - who was Gore's campaign manager. But since they're brothers i'll give you the same connection that most people made between Dubya and his brother in FL. :)

My wife keeps talking about moving to Maine. If i had the same good paying job, cheap hunting land, oh and if we could move the Cubs to Maine, then i'd go for it!
