Super Black Eagle II or Super Vinci

Ok I know there has been a thread started already about this but I'm new to Benelli coming from a Winchester Super X2, hated, and a Remington 11-87.
First I am going to be purchasing either the Black Eagle or the Vinci next Thursday or Friday depending on my work schedule.. The price between the 2 are ok with what I'm willing to spend.

Now the questions
My Super X2 would jam quite often and I had a very hard time coming on target with anything.
I hated everything about the gun. I did purchase this brand new..
I've held the BE2 and it feels great.. and have read threads regarding the Vinci.. I'm not really worried about looks I want something that will shoot flawless and the better gun for the bang.

A buddy of mine has a older BE2 and the blueing on the top of the gun has been rubbing off and starting to rust quickly.. Is this something that has been fixed or just a fluke with his gun?
He told me to spend the extra bucks to get it in camo for the extra protections.. I I really like the black.

What are the Pros and Cons of both the new Super Black Eagle II and the New Super Vinci.
If you have the choice to pick either of the 2 which one would you pick and what barrel length.
I would be using it for small game, Grouse, pheasants along with Waterfowl ducks, geese, and occasional Wild Turkey.

And go!

Thanks guys in advance!

I have black SBE II, no finish issues, but the camo is nice for the extra protection. You can always get it dipped later if you buy the black. The SBE has a higher rib that I like. 26 or 28 is preference, to me 2" in barrel doesn't mean much. Both are good guns and unless you get one of the flukes either should function well. Keep in mind some 3 1/2 guns don't function reliably with lighter loads, they nedd a certain amount of power to work the action, I think for the benelli its 1 1/8 oz at 1200fps or right around there as a minimum. Some will work with lighter loads though, it depends on the individual gun. Never shot a Vinci.

Awesome thanks for the info.. I'm waiting for thursday to come around since the Benelli rep will be in the area and hoping for a better deal than what the dealer can offer..
Either way I'm coming home with a new shotgun.. Guess it really all depends on which one feels better after being thrown on my shoulder

Would like one of either myself just can't decide! Have Super Nova that I love shoot and hunting with so may stick with it . Good luck on either of them that you pick.

The most obvious difference to me is the locoation of the safety.
I have the Montefeltro with rear safety and Supernova with front safety.
The rear safety is easier for me to find whiel shouldering for a shot, while the front safety requires a more deliberate movement.
The overall feel is foremost, but I think your preference for the location of the safety should be a consideration.

Another reason why I like the SBE.....Rear trigger guard safety

For the 5% chance you are left-handed, a safety change on the SBE2, and other rear safety models, is a 5 minute kitchen table job, while its a 3-5 week "send back to Benelli" proposition on the front safety models, like the Super Vinci. No charge for Benelli doing it, except outbound shipping.

Well I went to the dealer today and held both of the guns.. Both shouldered perfect they are both very light compared to my Super X2.
The forearm grip feels better to me with the SV but I have short fingers and the safety thats made in front is not easy for me at all to hit.. It could be a thing that I would just have to used to not having a shooting grip on the gun while i take the safety off but how much will that affect a grouse flying off or a flushed wood duck?
I have till thursday afternoon to decide.. I was more focused on the black not only for price wise but the looks.. After seeing in person the black was very shiny and I'm not sure if I like that...
Decisions Decisions...
Thanks guys for all your input

The recoil spring that's in the stock on the SBE 2 is kind of a pain to clean. I think it's in the reciever in the Vinci. On mine, the rest of the gun can be dirty, but there better not be even a little grit in there or it will start to cycle slow and jam. I just make sure I clean it every couple weeks during our long, hot sometimes dry/dusty deer season. Looks do matter to me however and I would not trade my SBE for a brand new Vinci or pretty much anything else. If you can't push off the safety without loosing your shooting grip, that would probly be a deal breaker for me though.

I'm a lefty and love my SBEII LH. This will be my 5th season shooting it and it and I have had 0 issues. There is something about the feel of the gun, the narrow fore end, and the way it points that just fits me well.. Reliability is a huge plus too, since the SBE has been around for a while.

Both great guns, but LH option made it easy choice for me..

I have a Super Vinci and my good friend & duck hunting buddy has the SBEII. We've shot each other's guns plenty with a variety of shells. Everyone seems to agree the Super Vinci is softer recoiling and lighter. Some people don't like the look of the Vinci line; I do, but I bought it to shoot, not frame as art.

On the S.Vinci, I've had 1 FTF in the blind but it was right after the gun took a hard drop and went underwater; I believe the bolt partially recoiled and was out of battery. Racked it to eject & load a new shell, bang, dead bird. It has always cycled everything including cheap Federal & Estate 1oz dove/target loads right out of the box - no "break in" with magnums required or anything. The SBEII cycles target loads fine but its seen a few cases of heavy waterfowl loads by now too; I've heard they're a little more picky with light loads.

In the same conditions, I've seen the SBEII start to get sluggish and jam while the S.Vinci was still shooting. This was near the end of a week-long late January Arkansas duck & goose hunting trip, and both guns had been soaked by rain and everything else by the end of it. We were sort of trying to see how far they'd go before starting to mess up.

tl;dr: I bought the Super Vinci with my money, I love it, but I have no problems with the SBEII. Buy the one you like best. My Super Vinci is black and has a lot of scuffs & scratches on it from 2 years of hard hunting - pheasants in South Dakota, ducks & geese in Ark & Miss, dove & quail in TN & AL, a few hundred clays in between. Over 1100 rounds total so far. I bought it to use and keep a long time, it will look like hell when I'm done with it but we already have stories to tell.

Im trying to buy one and want to know if im being ripped off
Call Michael Murphy and Sons, (316) 775-2137. They seem to consistently have the best Benelli prices and the service is excellent. You can also find them on the web http://www.murphyshotguns.com/
