Does Illinois only allow shotguns for deer or are straightwalled rifle cartridges allowed?

 

Straight wall cartridges have just recently been allowed but single shot only. You can also use a muzzleloader during the regular firearm season as well as its own dedicated season in two weeks. (Different tags but you can use your muzzleloader tag during the second firearm season but have to use a muzzleloader). Our rules get kind of confusing.
