What are some opinions of the Verona 680 Gold vs. the Franchi SL Sport? I am about to join a shotgun club, and would be using the gun for 75% skeet, 25% trap. I haven't seen the Franchi except for the internet, but I saw the Verona today. Aside from being a little less refined in the metal finish area, it looks like a pretty good gun with a lot of desirable features. Both of these guns seem to be in the same price range, so aside from the topic of fit, etc, which gun is the better gun?

P.S. Will the Verona hold its own in resale value?

I won a Verona (LX502) purchased at Dick's SPorting Goods. It is an excellent gun, made in Italy, loaded with features for the money spend, good fit and finish and 1000's of rounds with no problems. I would recommend their products. I also own many other models of shotguns--Browning, Winchester, Remington ,etc. and find that the Verona is an excellent value. Mine is a little heavier than I like for a skeet gun to be--my personal preference. But it is perfect for trap. I use it almost exclusively for trap though I have carried it in the field.
Franchi makes a good shotgun.
Your postscript though indicates that you may not have found the shotgun you want. If you are concerned about the Verona's resale value before you even own it and shoot it, then maybe it is not the gun for you.

It seems like I looked at every O/U on the market before I decided to order a Franchi Alcione SL Sport. I spent about 5 weeks researching before I made my decision. My shotgun hasn't made it to me yet, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. I looked at the Veronas while I was shopping. They looked great, felt good, and seemed to offer a lot of gun for the money, but I was more impressed with the Franchi.
