Vertical grip?

I have an extra old style MVG that I couldn't use on anything else. Is this ridiculous?

It feels a bit awkward, though I could train through it. The grip advantages seem to be that it helps my finger find the light button and potentially I could charge the shotgun using the grip.

I've found I tend to grasp half on the forend and half on the vertical grip, so it's more of an indexing device or handstop than a torque bar. If that makes sense.

Personally, I think half&half-ing your grip pretty much gives you the WORST of both worlds.

A couple fingers and a thumb with a lousy grip on the forearm and a couple smaller, weaker fingers with a lousy grip on the vertical.

learn to use 1 or the other and stick with it.

I think you're right. It isn't a very solid grasp, and I found myself readjusting my forward hand for simple regular slide manipulation.
