The gun is a re-labeled SKB for the most part, so check around and see how is working on SKB shotguns and has parts.

Mods, not really, and just the normal fitting and weighting the gun to you is all that is needed right now.

But to go back to the top, with any match gun that you are going to put many, many rounds through in a short period, the gun is going to need replacement parts at some point, so find a smith in the area that can do a quick turn around time if the gun does break down.

Here in the states, most of use will pick a gun on how fast we can get it repaired when needed, with most of the time at major shoots, a smith at the shoots that has parts and get us back up and running in less than a hour if the gun breaks down. Depending on your area, a quick turn around may not be an option with a smith that has parts at the shoots, so keep this in the back of your mind during the off seasons so you can drop the gun off yearly to have a gun smith go through it to maybe catch a problem before it take the gun out during the season.

+1 for the origin of the newer Weatherby D'Italia... It is indeed Fausti. I have an "SKB" Weatherby Orion SSC with 32" barrels. The thing is built well. I have heavily modded the gun, putting on a R.A.D. recoil reducer, adjustable comb, and yes, a hi rib. The gun (for me anyway) shoots well, and is super soft shooting. I also have a Weatherby Athena Master Skeet with a tube set. I set it up pretty much like my Orion. Love the gun.

I never got to see the Italian guns, I only know that the Japanese (SKB) Weatherby shotguns seem to be the ones that most people seek. That being said, I am sure you will have years of shooting with the newer Italian model. Shoot the heck out of it, and enjoy!
