Hi All,

Would there be a reason not to buy an used (very good condition - low round count) Winchester 101 Diamond grade unsingle shotgun?

Thanks

my daughter shoots one and likes it,

with any gun, I would suggest shooting it first to see about your thoughts, they fit some people better than others and my daughter's with extra weight is about 10.5 lbs,

will you need to put a new stock ? an adjustable comb ? butt plate ?

our gun had a broken ejector hammer and the only one to be found was in Canada and was going to cost us $100.

supposedly it's a common part to break on these,

luckily our gunsmith order the wrong vintage from a local supplier and was able to machine it to fit,

Thanks for your respons…the stock is in good shape and has an adjustable comb with fixed but plate. Good to know about the ejector hammer.

They were made in Japan by Kodensha in a joint venture with Olin and in my opinion an excellent shotgun. You can still find parts if needed. They have a reputation as having a hard recoil which I feel is no worse that any other O/U in its weight class. The Diamond was the high grade and is a sharp looking gun.

A friend shot one quite well for several years and then "upgraded" to a K80. He hasn't shot as well since. Maybe the gun, maybe not. It does give me an endless amount of grief to give him.
They are a handsome, high quality, well built gun. They used to be somewhat common on the trap line.

I can think of one; they want too much money for it.

Also this: you'd rather have a custom Kolar made up to your specifications.

Or; your wife says "Not until I get my new bedroom set."

There are probably more.

They are fantastic well made under appreciated guns. I shot this Ducks Unlimited Canada 50th Anniversary 101G XTR (#65/145) for 32 years in the duck blind and on the skeet field before selling it to a buddy who bugged me for close to ten years to sell it to him.
