Having owned and after shooting thousands of rounds through my MX8/20 I am completely smitten by the gun. It came to me as a 99% used gun with 30” 28 and 20 ga barrels. Over the years i added 33” 28ga and 33” 410 barrels. Crushes clay targets and doves !

Love the longer barrels on this gun!

The MX8/20 was a little heavy for upland bird hunting, so a couple years ago I ordered a MX20, built to my measurements with 30” 28 and 410 barrels And a matched wood forearm for 20 ga. Took the 30” 20ga barrels from the MX8/20 set and fitted them to the MX20 for a three barrel set.
It’s a upland bird gun dream. From Montana Sage Grouse, Sharptails and Huns to Georgia Quail and doves, it has become my #1 bird gun.

I always wanted to try a MX28, but finding someone in the Southeast with one to shoot has been hard to do. This past summer I found a used one with 32” barrels showed up and I figured what the heck if I don’t like it I’ll sell it. Needless to say, it has found a home! with the checked butt its a little stout if you shoot a couple rounds of sporting clays, but for dove hunting it’s a dream. Another that has found a home.

So here I am very pleased with my P guns but feel lacking for not having a MX410.

Take a guess where this is headed. 😊

Damm--looks like you're trying to catch me. I have 6 P-sticks at present. I have an MX 410 and it is light. Right at 6 lbs.

Sera, I was hoping you would chime in on the 410. If I remember correctly you had a MX28 and traded for the MX410. How’s that going?

I really like shooting the 410 in the other two guns, but I have always shot a heavier gun better. Worried that the 6lb 410 will be too whippy.

I've never had an MX 28. I have an MX20/28 and an MX 8/28.

I forget now what I traded for the MX 410. I like the gun but it is superlight to me. I have won 410 events w/ it but having another 1.5 lbs would make it easier for me to shoot.

I will likely add some lead tape to the bbls and a thicker recoil pad. It is a great preserve quail gun.

Great thread, I have been hunting and mx8-20, 28 3/8 weighing in at 7.8 pounds. Love the gun but this year found an mx5-20, 29 1/2 that weighs in right under 7 pounds. Much livelier gun, also like the quick barrel selection in the dove field. Having a hard time deciding which one is going to Argentina this summer. if anyone knows of some longer mx8-29 barrels for sale let me know. Now you all have me wanting to shoot a 28, what does that scaled frame gun weigh, approx.

I know a couple of guys who only shoot an MX 28 due to health issues. Each has let me shoot w/ their guns and they seem very light to me. If you know that going in , you can address it. I rarely shoot my MX 8-28 but I have twice scored 49/50 on a subgauge course with that gun. Mostly shoot my MX 20/28 which is the perfect Argentina dove gun and the perfect small gauge Fitasc gun.
