Oh wow, that's great to know! That was the biggest reason I never looked further into it for my GF. Otherwise I loved the idea of a soft-shooting Mossberg 12g at a reasonable price.

That is pretty sweet you can get the LOP from 14.5" down to 12.5"! That is about perfect for most shooters. Somebody did ask a great question about shortening the LOP even more possibly affecting reliability (from shortening the recoil tube). I don't have a clue about the mechanics of this weapon, but is that something to worry about?

12.5 without a recoil pad.

The tube can get shorter by an inch or so giving you a 12-12.5" LOP with pad, but there are some signifigant issues with how that will affect action spring compression and gun operation (the tube also has to be re-threaded). For reliable operations the spring retainer and follower need to be modified on that re-threaded tube as well.

Braindoc, you did a great job without messing with the internals. My point was that a person can't really get much shorter than what you did without some serious modification.

One could shorten this end. I was originally gonna perform some shortening of this end since the shortened stock came with a shortened assembly also, but I was unable to remove the recoil tube from my gun. I also wasn't sure how much to shorten the spring.
Doc, you might be able to shave 1/4-3/8" off those threads, but any change in the length of the tube between the receiver and the spring retainer will require 1) a shortened/modified follower or 2) trail and error to get the right spring length or 3) both 1 & 2. That is, those things will be required if you'd like the action to unlock and rounds to cycle.
