I have inherited a shotgun, which I need to ID. So I am hoping some kind stranger on the forums might either recognize the firearm or know how to decipher the markings. New Zealand has introduced a compulsory firearms register, but for that I need to know the Make and Model etc.

Using the pinned guide in the forums, I have concluded that:
- The U with a star above is the inspectors mark.
- The ELG with a crown is the Belgian proof mark" (used from 1893 to 1968?)
- The "12 75" in a circle means 12 gauge 75mm (3inch) shells.
- The "Not English Make" stamp is for firearms imported into Britain between 1925 and 1955.
