Congrats on the new truck. Sounds like you've done your homework on this one (except for the four wheel drive thing). I promise not to mention that if you have to be pulled out of the mud on our pheasant hunt.

Yea, if money were no object, I would have definitely got 4x4. The 2wd version put my payments at the upper end of what my budget would allow so getting 4x4 would have strained the budget a little more than what I was comfortable with. I honestly don't use 4x4 that often. I think in the last 6 months, my wife's Yukon has been in Auto 4 wheel drive twice and 2 wheel drive the rest of the time. Even then, she wouldn't have got stuck in 2 wheel drive. The majority of the time, I hunt at my father-in-law's place and it's a small enough place to walk everywhere I need to go. He also has a tractor I can use if I really need to go somewhere on his place where 4x4 in a truck would be needed. The cost - benefit analysis dictated I stay with 2 wheel drive this go around.

Well, no turkey today. Long story short, they were in a big field about 80 yards out from cover. About 4 gobblers and 8 hens. I snuck along the creek and got as close as I could. A couple of the hens were within range but the gobblers stayed 60+ yards out. I finally spooked them trying to circle around ahead of their direction of travel. Oh well, there is always next weekend and the weekend after that.

I took a couple of pictures of my new truck while I was out there. I e-mailed them to cdb and asked that he post them on this thread. Thanks in advance cdb.

Beautiful truck. Dark Blue? Tell me you're not enjoying that new truck smell.
It's actually black. Yea, the new truck smell is nice. Getting 33 mpg on the way home from hunting was even better! I should have over 500 miles on it by the end of turkey season so I will use it to tow our travel trailer back from my father-in-law's place. That will be my first tow test and we'll see how it performs and what kind of fuel mileage it gets then. I am extremely happy with it so far and if it does well towing the travel trailer then it will be a complete success as far as I am concerned.

I spent a lazy day watching a marathon of Jesse James movies, in chronological order starting with the 1939 classic, "Jesse James" starring Tyrone Power and Henry Fonda. A couple of Abita beers made the really corny ones a bit more palatable.
